Seekers of a Life Less Ordinary

New Vintage Friends cards today available at the lovely HUSK stores all across Melbourne. These cards are inspired by a gift of ephemera, a photo of my mother and remembrance of lives past, each card is handmade with vintage elements from a Melbourne Fashion House circa 1948 -1960.

A Vintage Christmas

Gosh I'm finally back - falling 4m off a ladder certainly takes it out of you! Thank you for all your warm wishes, while I couldn't actually do anything I did lots of creating in my head, so here is Vintage Christmas. Hand made with vintage sheet music, sewing and embellished with a hint of German glass glitter, velvet ribbon and more, I hope these are cards that will be cherished.

All silver and shadow and vision of things not seen.

Down to the sea today-collecting precious memories.

“Look at that sea, girls-all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”   L.M. Montgomery

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over. by John Masefield

She wore flowers in her hair and carried magic secrets in her eyes.

"She wore flowers in her hair and carried magic secrets in her eyes.
She spoke to no one. She spent hours on the riverbank.
She smoked cigarettes and had midnight swims..."
-Arundhati Roy "The God of Small Things"
